Project Champion on the Board: Cllr Julie Grocutt (now stepped down from the board)
Work now complete. A Phase 1 Project.
Completed works to improve the park surrounding the Stocksbridge Leisure Centre.
These works include:
All Wheels Facility: The existing skate park has been transformed into a modern all wheels facility, designed to accommodate scooters, BMX bikes, and skateboards. The project also included tree and wildflower planting to enhance the site's visual appeal and support local biodiversity.
Cycling and Walking Route Improvements: New link footpaths have been created within Oxley Park and resurfacing works have been completed on existing routes through New Hall Wood. This has improved connectivity and access for cyclists and pedestrians and upgraded over 1.25km of path network.
Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure: Four electric vehicle charging points have been installed at Stocksbridge Community Leisure Centre to support the transition to sustainable transport options.
Enhanced Café Terrace Area: The improved café terrace area provides a more welcoming pace for visitors. This involved the creation of a curved path to create a route in and out of the leisure centre to the park. The hard landscaping was softened using wildflowers and tree planting to uplift the space.
