The Steel Valley Ride Returns

The Steel Valley Ride, a 31 mile mountain bike adventure through the dramatic landscape of the Dark Peak is returning on 23rd July 2022 after a two year postponement due to the pandemic.

The event aims to raise funds for the Steel Valley Project a countryside management charity in Stocksbridge working to improve the environment for people and wildlife in the Upper Don area.

The mountain bike route starts and finishes at Trek Fox Valley who are event partners and have donated a £150 voucher which will be up for grabs in a prize draw for the first 50 entrants. The Trek store will also be hosting the Stocksbridge Cycling Festival throughout the weekend with full details to be announced soon.

On the day of the event there will be a raffle for a Trek Marlin MTB courtesy of Trek, with the money raised going to the Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team in recognition of their service to the outdoor community.

Entries for the event are already filling up quickly. With a limited number of places available, the charity recommends that anyone wishing to take part enters soon to avoid disappointment as the previous editions have sold out completely.

The event organiser, Tom Newman said: “We are really excited to be running the event again after a two year break. It’s a fantastic route that has something to offer for anyone with a mountain bike and a sense of adventure!”
