Stocksbridge residents have their say on plans for new bus service

A survey has been launched this week to help find out what Stocksbridge residents want to see from a proposed new “hopper style” community bus service for the town.

The Stocksbridge Towns Fund Board is looking to work with local transport providers to deliver a local bus service which can help to better connect different parts of the town.

And residents are being given the opportunity to comment on the routes and plans for a new service by taking part in an online survey.

The proposed service is one of the ten projects which make up the £24.1m Towns Fund investment – other projects include the regeneration of Manchester Road with a new Library and Community Hub building at its heart. There are also plans to enhance recreation and sporting facilities across the town.

The bus project aims to create a regular, reliable, and sustainable Stocksbridge based service which links with the current public transport links in the town - it’s hope that the new service will launch later this year.

To take part in the survey only takes a few minutes and it can be accessed online, paper copies will also available at Stocksbridge Library.  To complete the online survey go to: https://haveyoursaysheffield.uk.engagementhq.com/stocksbridge

A spokeswoman for the Stocksbridge Towns Fund Board said: “We know from our consultation roadshows and the ongoing engagement through local meetings and drop ins, that a new local bus service connecting different parts of Stocksbridge is something residents are keen to see."

“As we progress our plans we want to hear from as many people as possible about what they would like from a local service and to have their say on how it could operate.  The routes we can provide will depend on viability, but to assist the Board and the service provider to shape these proposals we really want to hear the views of local people.”
